Overview

What it actually is.

A crown covers and protects a tooth that has been weakened by decay, a fracture, or a root canal. Modern porcelain crowns are color-matched and shaped to look identical to a natural tooth.

We use high-strength ceramic for back teeth and translucent porcelain on front teeth where the optical match matters most. Both are bonded to the prepared tooth for a strong, predictable, long-lasting result.

Modern porcelain crowns are color-matched and translucent enough that most patients can't identify their own.

What to Expect

How the visit goes.

Every patient gets the same unhurried, step-by-step process. No surprises, no fine print — you know what's happening before it happens.

01 Step 01

Prepare the tooth

Decayed or weakened tooth structure is removed and the remaining tooth is shaped to receive the crown.

02 Step 02

Impression & temporary

A precise impression (digital or traditional) goes to the lab. A temporary crown protects the tooth in the meantime.

03 Step 03

Lab fabrication

The custom crown is made over 2–3 weeks — color, shape, and translucency designed for your specific tooth.

04 Step 04

Final placement

The permanent crown is checked for fit, color, and bite, then bonded into place.

Why It Matters

What you get out of it.

The benefits aren't theoretical. Here's what changes for you in the weeks and months after treatment.

01

Save the tooth

A crown protects a tooth that would otherwise fracture or need to be extracted.

02

Restore function

A properly fitted crown lets you bite and chew normally — no special handling required.

03

Natural appearance

Modern porcelain crowns are color-matched and translucent — most patients cannot identify their own.

04

Decades of life

A well-placed crown on a healthy underlying tooth routinely lasts 15+ years.

Insurance & Pricing

Crowns, partially covered.

Crowns are typically covered at 50% by dental insurance. We verify benefits before treatment and provide a written estimate that covers the crown, prep, and seating in one fixed quote.

Questions

The things everyone asks.

When do I need a crown?
Common reasons: a large fracture, after a root canal, a tooth with a very large filling, severe wear from grinding, or a tooth that has been cracked but still has healthy roots.
Will it look natural?
Modern porcelain crowns mimic the translucency and color of natural enamel. We custom-match the shade to your surrounding teeth.
How long does it take?
Two visits, usually 2–3 weeks apart. Same-day crowns (CEREC) are available for selected cases.
